Socially Responsible Nude Living

A newspaper article, "Nudists give the shirts off their backs to help needy", once reported that a club was celebrating National Nude Weekend by collecting clothing for charity. How could they resist? Noble though this was, there was a sense that the publicity was more important than the gesture itself. Still, it was a start. Recently a small group of local street people chipped in money they had raised through panhandling and made a $600 donation to our Children's Hospital. If people who have nothing can give so much, why can't we as a community of millions, take a more active role?

This is not a lecture and I'm certainly not a saint. Nudists, from my experience are very good well meaning people who individually are more giving than most. Last summer for example, our motorhome became stuck in the sand and within minutes there were 2 dozen people offering assistance. As a community however, we could do more. Perhaps we spend too much time defending our lifestyle. Perhaps many people don't want the publicity. And perhaps we enjoy our lifestyle so much that the problems of the rest of the world seem far away. What-ever the reasons, isn't it about time that we lower our shields and start get involved in a more socially responsible way?

There are many worthy social causes that deserve our attention; Millions of people live in stinking poverty; There are pressing environmental issues; People are being jailed, tortured and killed, around the world for nothing more than speaking their minds; and Species are being needlessly driven to extinction; to name but a few. Virtually magazine does not embrace any one specific cause, rather we encourage all people in our community to take that first step towards a brighter future by getting involved in whatever cause that you feel is important.

As editor of Virtually Magazine I challenge all Nude Living publications, Associations and Individuals to consider ways that we can work together to make this a better world, not just for us, but for everyone. Virtually magazine will provide FREE advertising and links for worthy organizations, and will publish comments and suggestions. Please - write
(anonymously if you wish) to: editor@VirtuallyMagazine.com and tell us what you are doing, what you would like to do, how others can get involved, or what we as a community should be doing, to make this world a better place for all.

Best wishes
Richard
