Tarzan of the Nudists

It is hard to imagine Naturism being established in any country as quickly,  efficiently and completely as it has been in Brazil. More surprising is that this is almost exclusively the result of the efforts of one determined driven man. This man founded the first Naturist beach, the second, the third; he founded the first beach association, the Brazilian Naturist Federation, the federations of several Brazilian states; he founded the first club, helped found several others; in the early days he lived in a tent in the jungle and defended the Naturist beaches when police were arresting,  local people were protesting and curious visitors were harassing - the Naturists; he built houses, restaurants and hotels; he caught snakes that got into the wrong places,  towed a dead whale away from the beach, and  he swam out to meet boats that were too close; he coordinated a brilliant public relations campaign to promote Naturism throughout Brazil and he addressed the Brazilian congress to make Naturism legal throughout the entire country. Thanks to the incredible efforts of this one man, Celso Rossi, who the press calls 'Tarzan of the Nudists', Naturism in Brazil is now growing explosively.

Praia do Pinho ... the birth of Brazilian Naturism

A mere 14 years ago, Praia do Pinho, the first Naturist beach in Brazil, was founded by Celso Rossi. This is the story of that beach and the birth of Naturism in Brazil. Unlike Naturist beaches elsewhere, this is a well established beach that rivals the facilities of most clubs. Access is controlled by security checkpoints, there is a hotel with a restaurant and bar, there is a campground and another bar. Behind this, built right in the jungle, is an area of the beach called Turtle's Paradise which has another restaurant and bar, a hotel, swimming pool and several houses and other buildings. Today, still growing, this is the largest of several Naturist beaches which enjoy a warm friendly family atmosphere of several hundred Naturists.

Colina do Sol ... paradise at last

For many reasons the first several beaches did not answer all of the concerns that Celso had in order for Brazilian Naturism to truly thrive. What he wanted to create was a place where people could walk away from their textile lives and embrace Naturism full time, yet still make a living and not have to sacrifice all of the worldly pleasures that our modern world has come to enjoy. At Colina do Sol, the first Brazilian Naturist club, Celso used all of his accumulated experience to create just this. Colina do Sol which is the realization of Celso's dreams, and was literally created out of nothing more than his dream, has in an incredibly brief period of time become a monumental success. Now with over $1.5 million invested, with a membership of several hundred, and with new buildings going in at the rate of 2 per month, it is the largest and most successful Naturist club in Brazil.

The Byron Bay 'Nude Ain't Rude' Rally

Slightly more political than usual, this story highlights the trials an tribulations, that we have read about many times before. In a classic struggle, a group of well behaved polite friendly Naturists wanting nothing but to enjoy a small stretch of Naturist beach, is pitted against a determined group of conservative minded individuals with time to kill, who have nothing on their side but the municipal council, and will go to any extreme to stamp out evil Nudity. So far we could be talking about any one of dozens of such classic Naturist struggles, but in this case it is the Byron Bay Naturists in NSW, Australia who are under attack from the Belongil Progress Association.

First time outdoor Go-karting - 1999

Though the weather was a real concern,  this outing has become another first for Robbert's traveling photoclub. This time the club went go-karting.  It was a big hit that will likely be repeated many more times.
